Team GB takes bronze in triathlon

Beth Potter of Team GB has just taken bronze in the women's triathlon event.

France's Cassandre Beaugrand won gold -clinching the country's first ever Olympic medal in the individual triathlon - and Switzerland's Julie Derron won silver.

What to watch out for today

It's day five of the Olympics, and today we'll see champions crowned in artistic gymnastics, canoe slalom, BMX freestyle, diving, fencing, judo and a host of other sports.

Here's what we've got our eyes on today.

Team GB

Women's triathlon: It was an early start for potential British medals, with world champion Beth Potter and Georgia Taylor-Brown both eyeing gold from 7am.

BMX freestyle: World champion Kieran Reilly qualified top in the men's and will be looking to win the final today.

Diving:Andrea Spendolini Sirieix and Lois Toulson will hope to repeat their World Championships success in the 10m synchronised final.

Judo: Katie-Jemima Yates-Brown competes for GB's first Olympic gold in the discipline in history.

Gymnastics: Jake Jarman is eyeing a podium place in the men's all-around final.

Canoe slalom: Another GB medal is at stake as MalloryEdwards takes on the the rapids at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium.

Rowing: The men's and women's quadruple sculls will feature GB athletes, with the former coming silver at the last Olympics.

Rest of the world

Five medals will be on offer in the swimming at La Defense Arena, including the men's 100m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 200m breaststroke, the women's 100m freestyle and the women's 1,500m freestyle final.

Katie Ledecky will look to tie the record for most Olympic medals won by an American woman with a 12th in the 1,500m.

Two more Olympic champions will be crowned in the judo at the Champs-de-Mars Arena for the women's under-70kg class and men's under-90kg.

Tennis continues at Roland Garros with Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz in men's singles third-round action.

South Sudan will hope they can pull off one of the biggest upsets in basketball history and beat the mighty United States.

Olympic triathlons to go ahead

The Olympic triathlon races will go ahead this morning after the River Seine in Paris passed water quality tests.

Organisers had previously said theevents only had a 60% chance ofgoing ahead after the men's event was postponed on Tuesday due to pollution levels in the water.

In a statement on this morning, the Paris Games organising committee said: "Following a meeting on water quality held on 31 July at 3.30am, the stakeholders involved have confirmed that the women's and the men's triathlons will go ahead as planned on 31 July at 8am (7am UK time) and 10.45am (9.45am UK time) respectively.

"The results of the latest water analyses, received at 3.20am, have been assessed as compliant by World Triathlon allowing for the triathlon competitions to take place."

Before we go, here is a recap of all of today's important developments.

Swimming gold: James Guy, Tom Dean, Matt Richards and Duncan Scott brought home GB's fourth gold medal, winning the men's 4x200 freestyle relay final by some margin.

That's also the second medal for Richards, who won the silver in the individual 200m freestyle.

Shooting gold: Nathan Hales won Team GB's third gold, breaking an Olympic record in the men's trap final with 48 out of 50 targets hit.

Ireland gold:Team Ireland won their first gold medal at the Paris Olympics, with Daniel Wiffen triumphing in the 800m freestyle, seeing off competition from the US (silver) and Italy (bronze).

Biles gold:Simone Biles and Team USA won the women's artistic gymnastics. Italy came in second place and Brazil in third - pushing Team GB off the podium by just 0.2 points after a strong performance.

Murray wins: Andy Murray and Dan Evans won their second deciding champion's tie-break in a row, postponing the tennis great's retirement once again.

Nadal through: Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz clinched a win against the Dutch pair in the men's doubles, putting them in the quarter-finals.

Beyond the stadium

Team GB's Jack Draper complained tennis players had to resort to drinking hot water on court, after losing to American Taylor Fritz.

French police will investigate alleged online abuse directed at a DJ who performed at the opening ceremony.

Barbara Butch claimed she suffered a torrent of threats after a scene she featured in proved controversial to some.

Murray postpones retirement - again

Andy Murray and Dan Evans have won their second deciding tie-break in a row.

They beat Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen, of Belgium, 11-9 in the third set.

They had won the first set 6-3 but lost the second 7-6.

The British pair have now reached the quarter-finals in Paris.

Murray and Evans on Sunday saved five match points to defeat Japanese duo Taro Daniel and Kei Nishikori.

They did not spare the audience any tension tonight either, saving two match points before winning.

Murray has said these Olympics will be his last competitive tournament.

Team GB have emerged from the water victorious in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay final.

It was an outstanding swim from the team, with the US and Australia coming second and third by some distance.

This means they have defended their Tokyo title to become champions for the second Olympics in a row.
